About Herk Consulting
Herk Consulting helps organisations develop people who can lead well, work effectively with others and contribute to better outcomes.
Our work is grounded in a simple philosophy:
Lead Self. Lead Team. Lead Impact.
How we show up affects the people around us. How we work together affects what we can achieve. Good leadership should ultimately make a positive difference to the people and outcomes that matter.
This philosophy shapes what we teach and how we approach learning. Adults learn best when their experience is respected, when the learning connects with their work, and when they have opportunities to think, discuss, practise and apply.
Learning that starts with the work
We do not begin by choosing a framework and looking for somewhere to use it.
We begin with the people. What do they need to get better at? What situations are they dealing with? What is making the work difficult? What would useful progress look like?
We then draw on relevant research, established frameworks, practical tools and real-world experience to design the learning. That may mean changing examples, rewriting scenarios, adapting activities or shifting the emphasis of a programme to reflect the people in the room.
The aim is simple: make the learning useful.

About Herk Ng
Herk Ng is an adult educator, facilitator and coach with extensive experience in organisational leadership, public service and the social sector.
Before establishing Herk Consulting, Herk spent more than a decade in senior leadership roles with responsibility for people, strategy, operations, organisational priorities and stakeholder relationships.
He served as Assistant Chief Executive of SG Enable, where his responsibilities included organisational operations, new functions, staff development and culture building.
At the National Council of Social Service, he was Director of the Strategic Planning Office, leading work on national social service strategy and organisational transformation.
He later served as Division Director of Strategic Management at the Singapore International Foundation, with responsibility for corporate functions including human resources, finance, IT and planning, as well as partnerships and organisational sustainability.
Earlier in his career, Herk worked in the Singapore Public Service at the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, in roles spanning technology, industry development, citizen-sector programmes, resilience and communications.
This experience influences how he approaches leadership development today. The concepts discussed in a classroom need to make sense when people return to real organisations, with competing priorities, different personalities, limited time and imperfect information.
From practitioner to educator
Herk’s interest in learning and development grew out of his experience leading people.
Today, he designs and facilitates programmes for managers, professionals, educators and practitioners across public, education, social and corporate settings. His work includes leadership and people management, coaching, communication and influence, stakeholder management, psychological safety, inclusion and social impact.
He also teaches in higher and adult education, including appointments with the Singapore University of Social Sciences and Singapore Institute of Management, and facilitates programmes through organisations such as Korn Ferry, SG Enable and the Social Service Institute.
Across these settings, his focus remains the same: helping adults engage with ideas, make sense of them in their own context and leave with something useful.
Serious learning does not have to feel heavy
A Herk Consulting workshop may include discussion, scenarios, games, movement, reflection, practice and peer learning. These activities are chosen because participation helps people notice, question, experiment and learn.
Participants are treated as adults. People are invited to contribute without being forced to disclose more than they are comfortable with. Different perspectives are welcomed. Experience is respected. Humour has a place, but so do challenge and reflection.
The goal is not for the facilitator to be the most impressive person in the room. The goal is for the people in the room to grow.

Helping people grow
Herk Consulting was built around a belief that development should be more than completing another course.
Good learning should give people an opportunity to think differently, practise something useful and become a little better at the work and relationships that matter.
Lead Self. Lead Team. Lead Impact.
